Deities we have practically forgotten in India, such as Vayu and Varuna are still worshiped in Japan. In fact, there are hundreds of shrines to Saraswati alone and innumerable representations of Lakshmi, Indra, Brahma, Ganesha, and Garuda among other deities.

Prof Benoy Behl, Art & Culture Historian and Photographer would share his experiences and insights during his visit to Japan in spring 2015, under the Fellowship of Japan Foundation. He would also deliver a lecture about the ‘Indian Deities Worshipped in Japan’ and how the ancient Indian culture, philosophy and ancient script are still preserved in Japan.
