Short Synopsis: 

When Satoru loses his mother he shuts himself off from the world and refuses to come out of his room, coming out only for food that his father, Kaoru, leaves for him on the table. Kaoru designs a Robot for his son to help him regain contact with the human world. Made out of Cyprus (Hinoki) and resembling Pinocchio, Hinokio the robot, goes to school in Satoru’s place.
