This is the wonderful and inspiring story about a courageous young girl, Noriko, who was born without both of her arms. As a young child, she is raised singlehandedly by her mother after her father deserts them. Her mother tries her best to raise her like a normal child despite the problems and prejudice they face. Noriko faces many obstacles in her life but she overcomes them bravely and passes the difficult employment examination at the Kumamoto Municipal office becoming Japan’s first thalidomide civil servant.
