Short Synopsis:Hirayama is a business executive and a family man. When his close friend’s daughter decides to live in with her lover without the family’s consent, he acts as a sympathetic ear for her. However, when it comes to his own daughter’s sudden request to marry a young man, he disapproves and refuses to attend the wedding ceremony despite pleas from everyone. Will he realise his hypocrisy and mistake and finally accept his daughter’s decision? This was the first ever colour film directed by Ozu.
