The Japan Foundation cordially invites everyone to come and meet our new Director General and also bid farewell to current Director General on August 22, 2015. Rather than having a usual formal event, we would like to throw a cultural festival cum party on this occasion. Hence, 12-in-1 that is 12 cultural events in 1 single day.
Come visit us and enjoy all 12 cultural events (if not all, at least one). Each of these events will be preceded by a brief introduction by our new and current Director Generals.

The schedule is as follows:
1. Origami Workshop
Time: 10:30 ~ 12:00
Venue: The Rabindranath Tagore Hall (GF)
Learn the famous art of paper folding techniques, by Origami Oritai Members. Open for all – kids and adults.
2. Tsutsumu Demonstration
Time: 10:30 ~ 11:30
Venue: Ritsumeikan Classroom (2F)
A lecture and demonstration of Furoshiki – Japanese Style of wrapping, using cloth. Learn a practical skill that is handy in daily life.
3. Manga Lecture
Time: 11:30 ~ 12:30
Venue: Tenshin Okakura Gallery (Basement)
“Subete no manga wa Nihon ni Tzuku | All Manga leads to Japan”- an interesting take on Japanese style of Comic Art, by our current Director General, Mr. Katsuma Doi.
4. Japanese Food Tasting
Time: 12:30 ~ 13:30
Venue: The Rabindranath Tagore Hall (GF)
Experience the flavour of different dishes of Japanese Cuisines- Okonomiyaki, Omurice etc. Please keep in mind, it’s Food TASTING!
5. Film Screening – “Moving”
Time: 14:00 ~ 16:00
Venue: The Rabindranath Tagore Hall (GF)
Enjoy the Japanese Cinema with English Subtitles. This film was also screened at 1993 Cannes Film Festival. The film showcases feelings of a girl, facing changes in her parents’ relationship.
6. Japanese Toys
Time: 15:00 ~ 16:30
Venue: Tenshin Okakura Gallery (Basement)
Let’s play with Traditional Japanese Toys- for kids as well as adults!
7. Chat Room |Theme – “Anime & Manga”
Time: 15:30 ~ 17:00
Venue: Ritsumeikan Classroom (2F)
Registrations to this event are closed. Final participants will be confirmed over email.
It is a window for Japanese language students to practice conversing in Japanese language, with a Japanese native, on a particular theme.
8. Piano Recital by Ms. Chisato Murakami
Time: 17:00 ~ 18:00
Venue: The Rabindranath Tagore Hall (GF)
Ms. Murakami, famous in Japanese Language Education, will perform. At the end of the program, you are welcome to sing a Japanese song together!
9. My Trip To Japan by Ms. Mollika Chattopadhyay
Time: 17:00 ~ 17:30
Venue: Ritsumeikan Classroom (2F)
Ms. Mollika went to Japan last month, on a 15-day program of JF. She will share her experiences in ‘The Land of the Rising Sun’.
10. Yukata Wearing
Time: 17:45 ~ 18:15
Venue: Ritsumeikan Classroom (2F)
Dress up in traditional Japanese dress- Yukata for the rest of the evening! The only condition is that you have to participate in last event of the evening, Bon Odori.
11. Karaoke
Time: 18:30 ~ 20:00
Venue: The Rabindranath Tagore Hall (GF)
Sing to your heart’s content! You can choose from the songs in Hindi, English & Japanese.
12. Bon-Odori
Time: 18:15 ~ 20:15
Venue: Front premises
Enjoy some Japanese traditional dance styles and perform with us! Enjoy delicious refreshments alongside.
