About BACHI ATARI –Alternative WADAIKO Unit
Formed in 2009 to revolutionize the traditional image of the Japanese drum wadaiko and give it a brand-new ‘shape’.
The focus are not only the legendary wadaiko styles of Tokyo, but also local styles from all over Japan, as well as the Edo festival music and nagauta accompaniment from the classical performance arts.
The members, specializing in various music styles, capture the essence and blend it with a special kind of fine perception which does not exist in their respective worlds, to bring forth a novel musical experience focused on music and performance, never before seen in the world of traditional wadaiko.
Among its members Tetsu Minegishi, Masashi Okawa and Yuhei Motoyama joined the Indian tour.
